'Bringing colour to life' The first serie of paintings (2001) was based on the Mola technique used by the Cuna-indians of the San Blas islands (east of Panama)in tapestry. In the next series Ellis used this Mola technique in a more creative and dynamic way and, by doing this, developed her complete own style of graphic painting (see series 'MASK-AM' and 'It's all in the family). Vast elements in all paintings: simple forms in a (often hidden) complex design, bright palette of colours, clear graphic lining among elements, repeating figures: masks and animals, strongly inspirated by impressions from traveling throughout Central and Latin America.
